An unmistakeable common plant of sea cliffs and coastal paths. It has a dense cushion of grass-like linear leaves and pink flowers in round heads on stalks about 6 - 10 inches long. Flowers from late spring to late summer.
Also known as Thrift, it was depicted on the back of pre-decimalisation threepence pieces.
