The Parasol Mushroom can grow up to a foot in height and can be found in grassy places and open woodland. The cap is brownish-white in colour, covered in shaggy brown scales with a distinct umbo in the centre. The cap flattens out with age and can be as large as a dinner plate. The stipe (stem) is thin with a double ring which can be slid up and down. It's not easily confused with poisonous species once full grown. Another distinguishing feature is that the stipe should detach from the cap relatively easily, and can be popped back into the cap.
