Located about 1 mile east of Hartland Point, Shipload Bay is one of north Devon's best beaches and is owned by the National Trust. The main part of the beach is sandy, with a few rocks, backed by large pebbles. Access to the beach is a long descent along a very steep path which is no longer maintained and is in a state of disrepair. A small sign near the top states "No public access", but the path is still well-used. It's extremely steep and partly overgrown. Ropes have been fixed alongside which you will need if descending to this beach. As it's not signposted, it can be hard to locate, but it begins just opposite a sturdy wooden bench. Parking is at a small National Trust car park at East Titchberry farm (Grid Reference SS243270), from where a brideway leads to the coastal path, which needs to be followed eastwards.
