Sandsfoot Cove (also known as Castle Cove) is a small beach of sand lying within the shelter of the Portland breakwaters. The sea is usually calm and swimming is generally safe. It's very much a 'locals' beach, and lies at the end of Old Castle Road. Roadside parking can be found at the end of this road and beach access is down a short slipway. Dogs are allowed at all times. A cyclepath known as the Rodwell Trail runs just behind the beach. The photo shows the beach in the early evening and the remains of Sandsfoot Castle can be seen on the cliffs in the middle distance.
