Paignton Beach is a popular beach for swimming, consisting of reddish-brown sand extending either side of the pier. Facilities include toilets ♿, showers, a pier (free entry), take-aways, and numerous amusement arcades. Some P&D parking is available along the Esplanade. Access is down a short ramp or steps. The water quality is generally excellent and it's a very popular location for sea swimmers. Dogs are not allowed from 1st May until 30th September on this beach. Leading westwards from the beach is Torbay Road - a good shopping street which and has plenty of cafes, beach shops and Paignton railway station (about 600 yards from the beach).
