Approximately 1000 yards long and 300 yards wide and at a height of 176 feet above sea level, Llyn Dinas is one of Wales' best lakes for swimming on a hot day. It lies below Llyn Gwynant in the Nantgwynant valley and is fed by the Afon Glaslyn. The water of the cold Afon Glaslyn will have warmed up a little in Llyn Gwynant, then has a second warming in Llyn Dinas, where a 'beach' area can be found at the bottom end. Layby parking is available on both sides of the A498 at Grid Ref : SH612493, and access is a short walk along a good footpath which crosses the river. If swimming, beware of tree branches in the water near any wooded side. A footpath runs alongside the Afon Glaslyn to the village of Beddgelert.
