Approximately 1000 yards long and 300 yards wide, Llyn Dinas lies below Llyn Gwynant in the Nantgwynant valley and is fed by the Afon Glaslyn. Mostly oligotrophic, it's one of Wales' best lakes for swimming on a hot day. The water of the cold Afon Glaslyn will have warmed up a little in Llyn Gwynant, then has a second warming in Llyn Dinas, where a 'beach' area can be found at the bottom end. Layby parking is available on both sides of the A498 at Grid Ref : SH612493, and access is a short walk along a good footpath which crosses the river. If swimming, beware of tree branches in the water near any wooded side. A footpath runs alongside the Afon Glaslyn to the village of Beddgelert.
