Teignmouth has a narrow shoreline of reddish sand and pebbles interspersed with groynes, with a defunct pier and backed by a promenade. RNLI lifeguards patrol daily from the end of May until early September and dogs are not allowed on the south-western section (beyond St Michaels Church) from 1st April until 30th September. Parking is at a large P&D car park at the far south-western end of the town, and Teignmouth's railway station is about 400 yards from the beach.
