Sandymere

Northam Burrows is a large nature reserve north of Westward Ho! and the adjoining beach is known as Sandymere. Basically, a continuation of Westward Ho! beach, it's wide and sandy, and backed by a pebble ridge. There is plenty of car parking behind the shingle ridge, but it's not cheap. Access to the shore is by walking over the shingle. The main access point is known as Sandymere and dogs are not allowed south of this point from 1st May until 30th September. Surf hire is usually available, and surf conditions are good at most stages of the tide apart from high tide, when the waves hit the shingle. Lifeguards patrol from mid-May until the end of September.
