Although the town end of Bala Lake is the most popular, another good place for swimming and water sports is on the southern side at Llangower. A small P&D car park with picnic tables and toilets is signposted from the B4403 east of Llanuwchllyn. The Bala Lake railway (gauge 1' 11⅝") runs along the south-eastern side of the lake, following the route of the former GWR Ruabon to Barmouth line. Llangower atation is adjacent to the car park and access to the lake is just a short walk over the level crossing.
