Llyn Morwynion

Llyn Morwynion (or Lake of the Maidens) is a natural lake, used as a reservoir behind a small dam. It lies just north of the Bwlch Tyddiad pass through the Rhinog range at a height of approximately 1280 feet and has a surface area of approximately 28 acres. It can be approached from either east or west of the Rhinog range. Parking (honesty box) can be found on the west side of the pass at Cwm Bychan farm (Grid Ref : SH646314), reached via a very narrow and winding road from Llanbedr. Free parking on east side can be found in the forest at Grid Ref : SH684301 - reached via a narrow gated road from the A470.

To reach the lake, walk to the highest point of the Bwlch Tyddiad pass and, facing west, head off at about 30° and you should pick up a small path. After a short distance, this leads to a steep, narrow valley leading down to the lake. Another lake with this name is located east of Blaenau Ffestiniog.
