Gloyw Llyn is an 8 acre lake in the Rhinog mountains just north of Rhinog Fawr at a height of 1250 feet. Its name means "gleaming lake". A rough path leads along the eastern side, and the banks are densely covered with bilberries, which fruit in late Summer. The easiest access is from Cwm Bychan farm, situated at the head of Llyn Cwm Bychan, which has a car parking (honesty box) and camping area (no facilities).
Directions : From the parking area, follow the signs for Roman Steps. The path passes through a wooded area and crosses a small stone bridge. About 50 yards after this turn right to pick up a small path following a stream. After crossing a wall by means of a ladder stile, the path to the lake heads off to the right. This is easy to miss. A short distance further is a steep rocky section, and Gloyw Llyn is just at the top.
