Bournemouth Pier Beach is the town's main beach - and the busiest. The sandy shore is interspersed with groynes at regular intervals and backed by the promenade. There are plenty of facilities, including fast food outlets, beach shops, toilets, drinking water, cycle parking, a zip wire and the pier. Lifeguards patrol both sides of the pier from early April until late September. Dogs are not allowed on this beach between 1st May and 30th September inclusive. Bournemouth railway station is about 1 mile away.
