Budleigh Salterton has a wide beach of steeply sloping flint shingle and some low-tide sand. It's backed by a promenade and bounded at the eastern end by the river Otter. The main long-stay car park is at this end and there is also roadside P&D parking along the promenade. lifeguards patrol at the eastern end from mid July until early September. Dogs are not allowed on a short section of the beach at this end. The western end beyond the village has a naturist area. Facilities on the promenade include a beach cafe, drinking water, toilets, showers and cycle parking. The village itself has a good shopping street.
