Jacob's Ladder Beach is Sidmouth's western beach, and is a beach of flint shingle backed by high unstable cliffs. It lies just west of Chit Rocks - a sandstone outrcrop with a pedestrian walkway around from Sidmouth's Town Beach. Other access is from Peak Hill Road, passing Connaught Gardens and down the wooden stairs known as Jacob's Ladder. A beach kiosk serves ice-cream, drinks and light refreshments. Dogs are not allowed at the town (eastern) end of this beach from May to September inclusive. Some short term (maximum 2 hours) parking (P&D or Pay-by-phone) can be found along Peak Hill Road, otherwise parking is in Sidmouth.
