Town Beach - Sidmouth

The river Sid enters the sea at Sidmouth, which has a shore of flint shingle and some low-tide sand backed by a wide promenade. Two rock islands are located towards the western end and signs warn not to climb on these. The town centre is just a short walk away, and has a good range of shops and toilets. Parking is at P&D car parks which fill quickly at peak times. Some short term (maximum 2 hours) parking (P&D or Pay-by-phone) can be found along Peak Hill Road to the west of the seafront. Lifeguards patrol the beach during the school summer holidays (10 am to 6 pm). Dogs are not allowed on the western end of the beach from May to September inclusive, and must be on leads on the remaining section. East Beach lies east of the river Sid, and is currently closed due to frequent rock falls. Note that eating food on the beach will attract the attention of the herring gulls.
