Also known as Hilbre Point, Red Rocks beach is at the top north-western corner of the Wirral Peninsula, and looks out towards Hilbre Islands. The shore is mostly sandy, with very little gradient. To the south, the shore is backed by low dunes colonised by Lyme grass and common reeds. Hilbre islands are about a mile offshore and the sand has little gradient, meaning the sea will come in fast on a rising tide. If you make the trip across be sure you know the tide times. Roadside parking is possible on Stanley Road, at the end of which access to the shore is a short slipway. Hoylake rail station is just under a mile away. Dogs are allowed at all times, but an alcohol ban applies to the beach.
