Weston-super-Mare has all the facilities one would expect from a traditional English seaside resort. The beach consists of sand on the upper part (which is mechanically cleaned daily during the summer) with mud lower down, and backed by a sea wall and promenade. Out to sea are the islands of Steep Holm and Flat Holm. There is P&D car parking along the front, other car parks are nearby and parking is allowed on the sand towards the southern end. The railway station is a 5-10 minute walk away, and facilities include toilets, cold water showers, a First Aid Post, a Tourist Information Centre (in the Winter Gardens), a pier, cycle parking, bars, restaurants and a marine lake at the Knightstone (northern) end.
Dog restrictions apply on the beach from 1st May to 30th September. The area of the restriction runs from the pier southwards to the end of the promenade, a distance of just over a mile. Lifeguards do not patrol this beach.
