Melon Comb Jellies are ctenophores, not true jellyfish and are often washed up on beaches during the summer months. They can reach a length of 6 or 7 inches, are completely transparent and do not sting. They have eight longitudinal combs, along their body, which propel them through the water and create a shimmering effect in sunlight. They are also bioluminescent at night.
