West Bay lies about a mile south of Bridport on Dorset's Jurassic Coast, and has two beaches. The River Brit enters the sea at the harbour and the East and West beach lie either side of this. The shore of both beaches is mostly flint shingle, and to either side the unstable Jurassic cliffs rise steeply. Lifeguards patrol on both beaches from the end of May until early September and dogs are not allowed from May until September inclusive. P&D car parks are just behind East Beach, and local facilities include toilets, pubs, beach shops and cafes.
