Durlston Bay is a completely rocky beach between Peveril Point and Durlston Head. Just over ½ mile long it has a narrow low-tide shoreline and is backed by unstable limestone cliffs. Rock falls are common and the beach is popular with fossil hunters. To reach it, follow signs for Durlston Country Park from Swanage town centre. This leads to Durlston Road which drops down into a valley behind the beach before ascending again to the country park. Space for roadside parking is usually available here. Access is from the bottom of the valley, where a footpath leads to the coastal path. This can then be followed northwards down some steps to its lowest point, from where a steep, unmarked, salebrous path leads down to the shore. Dogs are allowed at all times.
The photos were taken at low tide.
