Sandy Bay is the first (or last) sandy beach this side of Weymouth, and is backed by high unstable cliffs of red sandstone. A sprawling holiday park occupies the land immediately behind it. Access to the shore is down a speep slipway. Dogs are not allowed from 1st May until 30th September and lifeguards patrol from mid July until early September. To the east is Straight Point, and westwards the sandy shore continues to Exmouth, and is walkable at most stages of the tide.
